Ann Wolff has designed the famous Snowball.
Ann Wolff, born in 1937 in Germany, is an internationally known sculptor who works with glass, metals, resin, and concrete. She moved to Sweden in 1960 and worked for Kosta Boda from 1964 to 1978.
She is represented in museums worldwide and has exhibited internationally in both private and public collections. For Kosta Boda, she designed the iconic Snowball — a timeless candle holder created when glass was blown directly into a snowdrift. Since 1973, over 15 million Snowballs have been sold.
Ann Wolff has received numerous honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Glass Art Society and the PRO EUROPA Prize in 2011. A clear winner — and the brilliant mind behind Kosta Boda’s Snowball.
Snowball from Kosta Boda is not just any candle holder. The iconic votive has illuminated its surroundings since 1973, when it was created through an experiment where glass was blown directly into a snowdrift. It has since sold over 15 million worldwide. With a shape and surface as if it were actually made of snow, Snowball evokes the snow lanterns of childhood – at the same time as it brightens the winter darkness here and now.
